A highly plastic, smooth black stoneware. Fires to a rich, deep black finish. Ideal for wheel-thrown functional ware as well as small- to medium-sized slab-built pieces. For the best glaze results and brighter surface colors, we recommend applying a white engobe beneath your glazes. This helps vibrant colors stand out while also reducing pinholing. For oxidation firing only. Do not use for raku firing.
