4-Week Curriculum Overview
Week 1: Introduction to Wheel Throwing
Learn the fundamentals of working with clay, including wedging, centering (coning), and throwing basic cylinders — the core form behind many ceramic shapes. Students will be introduced to the studio, tools, and workflow while beginning to develop foundational techniques and comfort at the wheel.
Week 2: Throwing Refresher
Refine your throwing skills with a focus on control and consistency while developing pieces you’d like to keep. With guided support, you’ll build confidence and ease at the wheel through a structured approach.
Week 3: Trimming & Finishing Forms
Learn how to trim your pieces at the leather-hard stage, creating clean, functional forms. By the end of the week, you’ll have at least one piece ready for firing and glazing.
Week 4: Glazing & Completion
Explore the basics of glazing, including dipping and brush-on techniques. Finish your work while reflecting on your progress and next steps in ceramics.
We reserve the right to cancel the class due to low enrollment or for other necessary reasons.
